shiny new things

Last Week in Shiny, New Things; 3

Not necessarily new, not necessarily shiny.

Last weekend, I spent my time at camp reading.  And reading.  And reading some more.  I eventually finished the second day of the Patrick Rothfuss Kingkiller Chronicle, and now I am eternally sad.  My brother said the third book won’t be coming out in 2015, so I have a lot of months of waiting ahead of me.  He also mentioned there are novellas for two characters (Auri and Bast – I might be making the last one up, but that’s what I heard…), who happen to be some of my favourite characters of the series so far.  I will definitely be spending some time in Chapters to read these books!

I also spent some of my “sad-time” making art (as usual)!  I started a portrait of one of my favourite characters in the Rothfuss series, I made my first ever self-portrait that my mum approves of as looking like me (sort of), I did some more anatomy sketching, made my first page of my tan-toned sketchbook and painted my first ever Magic cards!  A long list, and the last is definitely not least: I’m so happy with how they turned out for a first attempt at repainting cards!  It’s a lot harder than I’d ever expected to match the colours in warmth… ie, I have a lot of green paints, but they’re all cool-toned.  Anywho, here’s a collection of the things listed above. ☺

In the meantime, I have to cool off after the massive family lunch today – there’s a wedding to attend tomorrow for the first of the “kid cousins” to get married.  It’ll be a nice event to see, not to mention my cousin flew in from Finland to surprise us all!  Always visits with a bunch of notice, but this time, nobody knew except her mum.  It is such a nice surprise. ♥

Time for some fluids to help fight off this stupid end of summer cold.  At least I’ve now had my illness of the year.  Cheers for now everyone, thanks for reading and stopping by!

Happy long weekend! ♥♥♥
